SharePoint Developer

Job #2229: Chameleon Technologies is searching for a SharePoint Developer.  The SharePoint developer directly contributes to the efficiency of business processes, the usable presentation of organizational information, and the effective governance of our business collaboration framework and tools.  This position is responsible for implementing custom workflow, collaboration, document management and records management solutions in Microsoft SharePoint using a combination of SharePoint Designer, built-in functionality and internally-developed or vendor-supplied tools.  This position also includes working with business leaders and end users to analyze business needs and ensure that SharePoint solutions meet stakeholder expectations.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Design, create, and organize site collections that support efficient business process workflows, including user interface design.
  • Analyze and document business processes to help identify how SharePoint can meet those requirements.
  • Create functional requirements and design documents to ensure business requirements are accurately recorded.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop and maintain an effective SharePoint governance program to guide site collection look and feel, content management practices, standard web parts, and other aspects of our SharePoint environment.
  • Work with business users and managers to document and analyze workflows that will be automated in SharePoint.  Use that information to create requirements documents for SharePoint solutions.
  • Work with software engineer teams as required to create customized solutions.  This may include integrating third-party tools and/or custom code into SharePoint.
  • Conduct research on emerging SharePoint tools and strategies.
  • Continually strive to improve the efficiency and usability of our SharePoint solutions, leveraging ongoing research and understanding of business needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Planning

  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for content management in conjunction with data owners and business managers.
  • Work with Database development staff to develop database architectures which will support SharePoint architecture.
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and SharePoint content archiving to ensure effective protection, security and integrity of data assets.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Conduct research and make recommendations on software languages and architecture, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

 

Operational Management

  • Consistently design, write, translate, and code programs and applications according to specifications.
  • Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
  • Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of SharePoint development best practices.
  • Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members.
  • Determine, develop, and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
  • Install additional SharePoint tools products for end users as required with the support of CoE infrastructure members.
  • Liaise with company’s software and hardware suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
  • Liaise with CoE network administrators, systems analysts, programmers, and other software engineers to resolve any defects in products or company systems.
  • Write and/or delete programming script to enhance SharePoint functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and Web applications as necessary.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform SharePoint improvements and upgrades for optimal performance of company business systems.
  • Respond to and resolve SharePoint performance issues.
  • Work with Project Managers to plan and coordinate data migrations between systems aligned with the architects of the delivery strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to SharePoint.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.

Experiences and Qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in computer-related field preferred
  • 5 years of SharePoint development using Designer, C#.NET, built-in functionality and internally-developed or vendor-supplied tools
  • Proven experience with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 & 2013 versions required.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft SharePoint designer and administration required.
  • User interface design experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in software development methodology and content management.
  • Technically fluent in programming languages, including C#.NET, Object Oriented development languages, SQL language.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Good knowledge of web application development. Web services, Javascript, Bootstrap, Knockout, AngularJS, JQuery and other.
  • MS SQL Server 2008/2012
