Chameleon Technologies has an immediate opening for a highly qualified Mechanical Engineering Technician for an onsite contract role on the R&D team in Bothell, WA. In this role, you will work on prototype devices used to test groundbreaking methane pyrolysis technology. You will work closely with a team of mechanical engineers, machinists, physicists, and chemists.
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Assembling and qualifying prototype devices per engineering design/instructions
- Troubleshooting and providing technical feedback on complex assemblies
- Fabricating custom parts via machining, welding, and brazing
- Identifying, analyzing, and implementing improvements to fabrication and assembly processes
- Devising and implementing new quality control measures
- Supporting a variety of projects in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience or commensurate training:
- Assembling, qualifying, and troubleshooting custom hardware
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Working closely with both machinists and engineers and providing design feedback
- Working in a research and development or related environment
- Impeccable organization, prioritization, time management, and planning skills and adherence to safety protocols
- Highly self-motivated with good track record of independently making decisions and finding solutions to complex problems
- Able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, with proper documentation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and the Google suite
- Able to adapt to changing requirements quickly in a fast-paced environment
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- A.A. or B.S. in an Engineering or Science discipline
- Machining & fabrication experience (e.g. lathe, CNC mill, drill press, etc.)
- Brazing experience (esp. vacuum brazing)
- Welding experience (laser, TIG)
- Mechanical design and drafting (CAD) experience
- Metrology experience (optical comparator, smart height gauge, handheld measurement tools)
- Experience with high vacuum or ultra-high vacuum hardware
Hourly range is $24 – $35 per hour.
