Chameleon Technologies has an immediate opening for a temporary Purchasing Agent. The Purchasing Agent will the lead sourcing, quoting, purchasing, and receiving activities that are essential to our clients product development. You will work closely with the technology and accounting teams in a fast-paced R&D / early manufacturing environment and perform tactical and strategic procurement activities to ensure our team receives the necessary parts, materials, equipment, and services to meet project schedules, cost targets, and commitment to quality.
Responsibilities:
- Issue RFQ’s and examine bids for new components, supplies, services, and equipment according to company policies and procedures; coordinate with project managers to select final resources
- Place Purchase Orders and act as the primary interface with suppliers, managing delivery status, removing barriers, and resolving issues to ensure timely delivery of components and services
- Keep project managers apprised of schedule delays and alternative vendor options to mitigate program impacts
- Receive deliveries, file packing slips, and deliver components to appropriate project teams
- Assist with adding inventory items into NetSuite
- Evaluate new vendors based on price, quality, reliability, capability, speed, and previous transaction history and develop and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers and service providers
- Negotiate pricing and discounts with the supply chain
- Track and maintain inventory levels of prototype parts in coordination with project managers
- Establish and maintain optimal supply base for efficient material flow – short supplier lead-times, supplier proximity to location, minimize transportation time & cost, utilize stocking programs to drive high inventory turnover & rapid response to demand increases
- Ensure that purchasing documents are complete & accurate and include reasonable business terms and conditions
- Maintain and track pricing history, discounts, and other frequently used vendor records
- Prepare reports as requested (e.g. pricing, part quantities, manufacturing orders and part drawing packages)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Related experience in a complex hardware manufacturing and testing (lab) environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work individually and in a team
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of hardware (e.g. aerospace, medical, energy, or similar) purchasing and manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to identify supply chain gaps/shortages to maintain internal project timelines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Prior use of NetSuite a plus
Hourly pay range for this role is $32 – $40.
